Couples have a very wide choice of holiday accommodation, in self-catered cottages and catered for. Holiday cottage breaks are often considered the prime choice for families because the accommodation works out as very good value when all factors are considered. Anyone with dietary issues often prefers to self-cater because it is easy to avoid foods that are harmful or to cook healthier food. People have all kinds of dietary requirements that must be adhered to, even on holiday; gluten free, lactose free, low salt, low fat and many more. A holiday home will have everything that is required to live away from home; a fully equipped kitchen with cooking equipment and all appliances, the crockery and cutlery. Go upmarket and rent luxurious accommodation and there will be a coffee machine, an ice maker and possibly gourmet cooking utensils and fine bone china to serve meals on.
A holiday cottage designed to accommodate couples will generally have a single bedroom, a bathroom, a living room and possibly a dining room although a table may be included in the kitchen or living area. Other possible rooms could be a sun room or conservatory, a utility room, a leisure room with a sauna and occasionally a hot tub although these are often sited outdoors on a patio. It is essentially a complete private house that is yours alone for the duration of your break. All you have to do is to find your own meals. One of the most appreciated things about a self-catering cottage stay is the fact that you can stock up on your favourite drinks and snacks that are at your disposal when you stay in the accommodation and relax. Who doesn’t like wine or a soft drink whilst watching television in the evening.
There may be a welcome hamper provided to greet you on arrival, or a cream tea, chocolate and wine. The quality of this depends on the rating and cost of the stay. Most holidaymakers could expect a cream tea when they book a cottage in the West Country where such foods are traditional.
Cooking for oneself is not mandatory when renting holiday accommodation, each couple of free to decide when they eat out or not.
