Standing aloft above this charming town is the incredible centrepiece of St James’s Church, the historic parish and civic church of Louth. At more than 500 years old and 295 feet high, it is a popular place for visitors and one of the many shining lights that the capital of Lincolnshire Wolds has to give. It’s not just all about St James’s Church however, and as you make your way over to the very edge of the town, you will discover the incredible charm of Hubbard’s Hills with its picture-perfect waterfalls and quaint little bridges over the River Ludd. Known for being Louth’s beauty spot, thousands of people from across the country flock to this public park nestled in a deep glaciated valley. The charm of Horncastle for holidaymakers
Horncastle is another bustling market town in the Lincolnshire Wolds, known as the ‘Best Antiques Town’ in the UK. Nestled exquisitely between the River Waring and River Bain, this is an area that’s certainly worth its weight in history. Once hidden in the walls of a Roman town before flourishing in the Middle Ages, alongside its dozens of antique shops, it comprises of a plethora of 18th and 19th century buildings and attractions such as the Grade II listed Old Court House and Horncastle Canal. Looking for something to do on the second Thursday of each month? The weekly farmer’s markets at Horncastle’s historic Market Place are well worth a visit. With most of the produce sourced within 30 miles of the town, normally among the stalls are Redhill Farm with its free-range pork burgers, haslets and sausages and Leagate Farm Shop with its wide range of fresh Lincolnshire products including homegrown fruit and vegetables, Lymn Bank Cheese and Myers Plum Bread.

If you’re a fan of horse racing, Market Rasen is a must see, if only for having the only racecourse in the whole of Lincolnshire. Situated on the western edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds, this small and picturesque market town is shrouded with culture as well as sensational countryside. Exercise enthusiasts will especially love the opportunity of the array of walking and cycle routes on the town’s country lanes. Willingham Woods, a mile east of the main town, is just one of these beautiful areas to explore. The perfect place to meet on a summers evening, these wonderful woodlands offer a variety of trails with possible sightings of wildlife such as ducks, fish and even sometimes deers. Starting in May 2018 once more will be the annual fortnightly Lincolnshire Wolds Walking Festival where walkers from around the UK flock to the county to take their choice of over 100 walks in the surrounding area and admire the views across the Trent Valley or the steelworks in Scunthorpe. Such popular circular routes including the 8-mile-long Walks in the Woods and the 9.5-mile-long A Route with a View that goes through nearby church laden Walesby Village.
