The small village of Ballindalloch lies just north of the Cairngorms National Park, in a rural area of farmland and forests. The A95 road runs down much of Speyside connecting many towns such as Keith. Aberlour, Craigellechie, through Ballindalloch, then travels south into the Cairngorms National Park through Grantown-on-Spey and Skye of Curr. Ballindalloch is a very good place to stay if you would like to explore the Speyside Way, the Whisky Trail and also visit the Cairngorms.

It is a tranquil place to spend a holiday, hardly more than a clutch of farms, a few houses, the castle and distillery – both of which welcome visitors. It also has its own golf course which may appeal to some. Apart from the A95, other roads are narrow country lanes – places to walk or cycle and spot wildlife; red squirrels are in the area. Nodding blue harebells grow in the grass verges during summer and foxgloves raise their pink stems above the grasses.
Ballindalloch is simply perfect for a Scottish country cottage holiday, somewhere you go to unwind, enjoy gentle strolls or bicycle rides, take photographs and enjoy a few days out.
One of the residents of Ballindalloch is a sculptor, Stuart Murdoch, who creates inspirational indoor and outdoor sculptures as well as many other objects in stone. You may wish to pay him a visit and take home an exceptional souvenir of Ballindalloch that would become a family heirloom.
